Union To Open Home Play Against Des Moines Menace

Union Dubuque F.C. will open home play for its inaugural season against the Des Moines Menace of the Premier Development League, the club announced Thursday. The match will take place on May 19th, with kickoff set for 7:00 PM.

"This is going to be a great, competitive match," said President Cliff Conrad. "Des Moines has been running a great organization for a long time, and we're sure that this match is the beginning of a successful relationship with them."

Des Moines is part of the Premier Development League (PDL), a subsidiary of the United Soccer Leagues, which brings a focus on the development of players under age 23 who hope to play professionally. In the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, former PDL players accounted for 78 percent of selections in the first and second rounds.

More information about the club's full schedule will be released soon.
